Meg and Tash, two young climate activists, decide to document how protest is affected in the next year. A lot can happen in a year. This is their story. ‘The Planet Is _____’ is a verbatim musical about climate justice, friendship and what it means to be an activist. Written by Natasha Pavey and Meg McGrady, the show has been created from poetry written and interviews captured between June 2022 and June 2023. About this performance Age guidance: This performance is recommended for ages 13+. Content warning: There will be heavy discussions around climate anxiety, the climate crisis, racism, infringement of human rights, and migrant injustice. There will be swearing and mentions of arrest, police brutality, missing children, alcohol use and transphobia. The piece will use loud music, high pitch sounds, sudden sounds, moments of audience interaction and blackouts. Duration: This performance will be 1 hour long, with a 45 minute post show Q&A. The pair strive to make compelling work around climate activism, politics, and community using musical theatre and verbatim theatre as their basis and writing from lived experience. They met studying BA (Hons) Theatre and Social Change at Rose Bruford where they began to collaborate and wrote their debut show, ‘The Planet Is_____’.
