Studied sociology at Cambridge University, subsequently taught and researched at Sunderland, Leeds, Newcastle, UEA and now LSHTM, and spent five years at WHO. Books include The Sexual Politics of Disability, Disability Rights and Wrongs and Disability: the Basics. Was on Arts Council for five years, and on Nuffield Council on Bioethics for five years. Exhibited work at Bluecoat, Pallant House and other galleries. First novel, The Ha-ha, published March 2024.
