Voila! Festival is making a grand return for 2024 and we have an exciting programme of genre and border-busting performances at our home in Leadenhall Street. Taking place from 8th - 23rd November, we present to you an array to panlingual theatre, taking you from Belarus to Peru and around Europe.

About Voila!

Voila! Europe is a multilingual theatre festival produced by The Cockpit. Their curated programme of cross-cultural, cross-disciplinary performance opens a trusted portal to new European theatre for independent artists and adventurous audiences. The festival is live on stage in London and live online everywhere, gathering together a welcoming community of the culturally curious.

We begin our journey on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th November with Body in Progress and Q. Body in Progress, presented by Hanna Komar and Sophie Vallee, is a docudrama created in response to the Belarus protests in 2020. Blending physical and verbal theatre, this piece explores one woman's journey through pain to find identity, belonging and justice. Q is a performance lecture like no other, taking you on a journey through language, translation and machine learning.

The second weekend of our festival presents two exciting immersive performances. Instructions on How to be Alone by The Missing Theatre Company is an installation exploring depression and isolation in a comic and absurd lens. Uproar invites the audience to engage with dance and music as traditional Latin American protest action, shedding light on Peru’s ongoing political crisis.

We wrap up our Voila! proceedings with our Voila! Theatre Deli Residency Artists Big Sister Theatre. As part of their Residency, they have access to free space for 2 weeks where they will develop their production: Sharing is Caring. 'Reflecting on notions of mental health and class inequality, it asks two of the most burning questions of our times: What is privilege? Can one ever unlearn what they’ve been taught?' Rounding off the festival is Naran Ja, a fable-like interdisciplinary performance using Soviet-inspired stop-motion, inviting the audience to surrender to the absurd.
