Artist Of The Month: Where I'm From by Jennifer McTair For the month of October 2025. Free exhibition in the bar café Presented by Jennifer McTair About the exhibition: Where I'm From, is part of a multimedia heritage project that uses DNA research and digital mapping to decolonise narratives about African Caribbean ancestry and challenge the question, where are you really from? By exploring pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial histories, addressing gaps in Black History education and confronting stereotypes rooted in Britain’s imperial past. The Exhibition will provide insights to ancestry search and encourage intergenerational conversations about heritage, with the goal of fostering deeper understanding, empathy, and pride in the UK's multicultural identity. About the artists Jennifer McTair, Creative Producer at Inside My DNA. 'I am the British born daughter of post war migrants from the Caribbean Islands of Trinidad, and St Vincent. I graduated from the University of the Arts in 2000, and have spent over 20 years working in Business Development. I also studied creative writing at Curtis Brown Creative. The infographic series ‘Where I’m From,’ uses data storytelling across DNA research and ancestral journeys to populate the maps and provide a holistic approach to discussing the British Empire within the former colonial territories of the Caribbean. The subsequent need for post war migration, and the ripple effects created for families located on both sides of the Atlantic.' ARTIST OF THE MONTH Free opportunity for visual artists to display artwork in Theatre Deli's Bar and Cafe, with up to £100 expenses covered.
