David Jubb is a theatre producer. He has been Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Battersea Arts Centre since 2004, sharing the Joint Artistic Directorship with David Micklem from 2008-2012.

Battersea Arts Centre’s cause is to inspire people to take creative risks to shape the future. Under David’s leadership the organisation has launched a productions programme and national touring network, produced a new strand of live performance for BBC Four and BBC Two, led a national development programme for museums and created the BAC Moving Museum, introduced an innovative series of social change programmes including The Agency, signed a 125-year lease on Battersea’s former Town Hall, delivered an innovative £13m renovation project in partnership with Haworth Tompkins, reimagined the organisation’s operating and programme model, and increased turnover from £1.5m to £4m. David has produced shows such as London Stories: Made by Migrants, Punchdrunk’s Masque of the Red Death and Kate Tempest’s Brand New Ancients. In 2015 he led the organisation’s recovery from a fire which destroyed its Grand Hall and Lower Hall. The building will fully re-open in 2018 with a Phoenix Season to celebrate the remarkable public response to the fire and the launch of the new Scratch Hub.

David was the Chair of Kneehigh Theatre from 2008-2013, and inaugural Chair of the London Theatre Consortium from 2012-2015. He is an active member of the What Next? movement, was a panellist on the Inquiry into the Civic Role of Arts Organisations by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and was a member of the inaugural Advisory Council for the Creative Industries Federation.

Prior to working at Battersea Arts Centre, David was Director of Your Imagination, a company dedicated to producing independent artists including Ridiculusmus, Kazuko Hohki and Toby Jones; Development Producer at Battersea Arts Centre working with Artistic Director Tom Morris to develop and launch the organisation’s Scratch process; and Director of the Lion & Unicorn Theatre. He has also taught in secondary and higher education.

David trained at Bretton Hall, Bristol University and Central School of Speech and Drama, where he is an Honorary Fellow, and has been awarded an honorary doctorate from University of Roehampton.
