Athena is a writer, performer director and social activist. She is the Artistic Director of Aegis Productions Ltd, writer on attachment at the Finborough Theatre and Creative Council member and Associate Artist at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

In 2016 Athena’s play, SCHISM, opened at the Finborough Theatre, transferring to the Park Theatre in 2018. Athena was nominated for an Off West End Award Best Female Performance and for an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre. In 2020 her play SCROUNGER opened at the Finborough Theatre, garnering Athena Off West End Award nominations for Lead Performance In A Play and New Play.

Athena's work for Shakespeare's Globe includes DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL (writer, actor), NOTES TO THE FORGOTTEN SHE WOLVES (curator, director, writer, actor).

Other work includes the feature documentary DAY OF SMALL THINGS (Channel 4) and three web series (YouTube). Athena is a contributor to The Stage, The Guardian and iNews. She is a TEDx speaker and a founding member of the Women’s Equality Party.

Athena is a Trustee for the Young Women's Trust, a Patron for Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation, founder of the Primadonna Literary Festival and a National Freelance Task Force member.

Born in Chicago, she now lives in London. Athena was born with athetoid cerebral palsy.
