Whether you are an experienced deviser, are just starting out, or have no idea what devised theatre is (but are curious to find out), this is a space for practitioners to come together and test out ideas and techniques without the pressure of making a show at the end.

Each session will involve skill sharing, testing out techniques, and space for participants to bring ideas at any stage that they want to test out in a low-risk environment.

Bring water and movement clothes, as well as anything that has inspired you lately - from music to paintings to poems to strange objects, anything and everything can be a seed for a devised piece.

These devising jams are flexible and will be adjusted depending on the interest and needs of the participants in the room. Run by Halfpace Theatre, a theatre company dedicated to devised and new work by underrepresented artists.

Brilliant, immersive, stimulating, easy to participate (Feb 2023)

Really developed my creative awareness & can't wait to use it in my practise (Feb 2023)

This was one of the best theatre-making experiences I have had (Oct 2022)

I don't think I've ever felt more comfortable in a space outside of my own home (Nov 2022)

Find out more about Halfpace Theatre

Halfpace Theatre Company is a migrant-led theatre company dedicated to supporting new and devised work by artists of underrepresented backgrounds.

We split our time between creating new work and carving out resources for our community. Our work is ensemble-generated, physical and driven by a desire to interrogate the relationship between international work and contemporary Britain, as well as the relationship between ensemble and audience.

Our community engagement ranges from free workshops and devising jams (previous partners include Theatre Deli, Stanley Arts, Cambridge Junction and ENTER) to networking opportunities to fundraising and producing support for early-career artists.
