Starting with somatic practice, we give participants tools to raise body awareness and shine a light on the body-mind connection. With the heightened awareness of the body and the mind, participants will be guided to create short movement/text sequences through intentional movement and object manipulation. I will draw on the devising tools used in the creation of ‘Is Any Body Home?’ to guide their creative process. The workshop is for those who: - have a movement practice, regardless of their level or experience - are interested in gaining tools for performance / performance-making - are interested in being more aware of their body and mind Every workshop will be different. You may attend one or more workshops.

Find out more about Wency Lam

Wency Lam is a migrant dance theatre artist based in London. My practice is a mixture of movement practices from my multiple roots. Some major influences are contemporary dance (specifically somatic practices and contact improvisation), open-style choreography, and Chinese dance. Movement serves as a medium for me to create conceptual art taking form in contemporary dance, physical theatre, and movement film. I am particularly interested in exploring body politics, identity, colonialism, and feminism through my creative work.
