Turan Ali joined Theatre Deli in February 2020 as its interim Artistic Director and CEO to replace co-founder Jessica Brewster.  Turan has been producing, directing and writing drama, comedy and stories for the BBC for 30 years, largely for BBC Radios 3 and 4. He was also head of performing arts at the Commonwealth Institute, producing, curating and directing international drama, festivals and performing arts events. Turan is in demand internationally as a trainer and lecturer in story theory, drama and soap opera production and writing, and persuasive use of drama.  In recent years Turan has been writing and performing queer short stories, some of which have been on Radio 4. His first solo show, Don’t Frighten the Straights, was performed in 2019 in Vienna, Amsterdam, London (King’s Head Theatre) and the Edinburgh Fringe festival, where his new 2020 solo show International Slut will also be performed.
