Creativity and Wellbeing Week 2024. Coloured lines crossing in the shape of a star

The Embodied Voice is a roughly 60-minute voice class, but with a twist! In this supportive class, we do not focus on making "pretty" or "good" sounds but rather make sounds that are honest expressions of where we are at today, however impolite & however abstract. As we explore the different aspects of expression practicing healthy voice technique (relaxation, good body use & awareness, diaphragmatic breath, etc.), we aim to be fully present & embodied and practice kindness and non-judgement as we notice what is happening in our bodies! We use EFT & EMDR throughout the session as part of the practice in case any difficult emotions come up. Wear comfy clothing, bring water & a yoga mat to role around on the floor, if you are comfortable to do so, adjustments available, and be prepared to make sounds together!

Find out more about Jessica Munna

Jessica is an artist & educator. The Scotsman called her most recent solo show ‘Pieces Of Us’ a “heartfelt & well-crafted work.” She began her career performing & teaching in peace-building contexts and received a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship for her work. Originally trained as a singer, she has had a long-time love of the human voice. Through actor training, voice teaching, and her own mental health journey, she became interested in trauma-informed somatic mental health modalities & is now certified EMDR & EFT practitioner. The Embodied Voice is an attempt to combine her love of voice and the philosophies behind these mental health techniques in order to give other artists (and anyone who is interested) a resource for self-care & resilience.
