This playful re-imagining of 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' is an all-ages comedy romp that promises belly laughs for the whole family.

Donkeys. Fairies. Goblins... Water Pistols??? Look out Sheffield, it’s RUBBISH Shakespeare!

Described as ‘like Horrible Histories but funnier’ by Primary Times, the RUBBISH SHAKESPEARE COMPANY make their Yorkshire debut following another sell-out, five-star Edinburgh Fringe Festival at The Pleasance.

Athens. The past. Four idiots enter wearing bed sheets for togas. With rubbish props, silly wigs and a ladder they attempt to perform the DREAM in an hour, and fail miserably. With hilarious results. Expect a trail of chair legs, bubble guns, life-size cardboard cutouts, lightsabers and a frankly pitiful attempt at ‘magic!’

Chock full of slapstick action, interaction, and clever mischievous storytelling, this anarchic and playful reimagining of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM is an all-ages comedy romp that promises belly laughs for the whole family.

They’ll make a mess of this DREAM, even if it bruises them.

‘‘There are bed sheet togas, water pistols, lightsabers, scary wigs and mop head lion’s manes. It’s pure rubbish… and you’ll love every minute." - Wee Review ★★★★★

‘Comic timing that bordered on the genius.’ - Fringe Review ★★★★★

About the Company:

The Rubbish Shakespeare Company are a ragtag travelling theatre troupe of four who have adapted Shakespeare's works into laughable ‘rubbish’ for nearly a decade. Operating under a strict Shakespeare For All policy, they believe everyone deserves an opportunity to access William’s works, regardless of age or background. With just an assortment of scavenged props, shabby wigs and a blend of original text and modern day English, Rubbish Shakespeare aim to show anyone can perform Shakespeare: even this daft quartet!
