I'm a narrative painter who was born and raised in South Korea. I graduated MA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art (London) last year. I had numerous selected exhibitions in London including HIX Award 2018 which I got shortlisted last year. My main practice is about meditating my personal relationship with cultural contradictions and current social issues from a perspective of an East Asian woman. The ideas are usually demonstrated by the surrealistic narratives that I created.

As a foreign artist, life in a new culture and society led to the discovery of various different perspectives, which resulted in an expansion of my focus to include a more general examination of issues surrounding women’s identity, particularly East Asian women. I always observe myself from 'where I belong'. The stories in my paintings always start from substituting specific women (or myself) in virtual narratives. These women are randomly placed in isolated, ironic or confusing situations which represent certain issues in the real world or personal crisis.
