We partner with a range of individuals and organisations to enable access to alternative spaces, places, activities, events, artists and artforms.

Changing spaces: We change the way people engage with and perceive city centre spaces, providing artistic interventions that challenge traditional uses of buildings and resources and making them inclusive and accessible spaces of creative activity. We want creativity to be interwoven into everybody's everyday lives.

Changing perceptions: We support and make work that pushes boundaries and removes barriers. Our art, activities and spaces are visceral: for people to participate in, play and interact with, touch and immerse themselves in. Unlike traditional arts spaces, our venues are open spaces for collaboration and the collective, where different groups of people can come together and have the creative freedom to find new ways of working.

Changing careers: We develop artists by providing transformational education and opportunities for those working in the arts that gives them the skills, time and attention to make a step-change in their practice. Above all this we support artists, make work and get it on stage.   

Theatre Deli was founded in 2007 by 4 theatremakers dissatisfied with the opportunities available to them to make theatre of scale. Their first building was a derelict space on Regent Street, London. Since then Theatre Deli has transformed 10 empty buildings, opened up over 200,000 square feet for rehearsal studios, workspaces and performances, and put £1.7million directly into the hands of artists.

In 2018 the organisation launched their first cross-organisational festival for children, ‘Rain or Shine.’ It commissioned 3 new pieces of work that will tour between Theatre Deli’s venues. This was followed in autumn by a national season exploring mental health. In November 2018 Theatre Deli launchd ‘Unity in Diversity’: a year of activity celebrating and advocating for diversity and inclusivity in heritage, thinking, identity, and lifestyle.

Alongside a programme of performance and events, it provides and supports youth groups, workshops, conferences, club nights and an extensive artist support programme.

Purpose of the Role

To provide dedicated administrative assistance to the Artistic & Executive Directors (AEDs) and Finance Manager of Theatre Deli group of companies.

Ideally we are looking for someone who would remain in the role long term, and therefore this may not be suitable as an entry level role for a career in the arts.

The role will be a key part of the management team that oversees the national Theatre Deli group: CurvingRoad, Deli Experiences Ltd and Theatre Delicatessen Ltd.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Assistance to the AEDs

  • To maintain and manage excellent communication across the entire group and staff team
  • To act as first point of contact for AEDs
  • To provide diary management for the AEDs including setting up and administering company meetings, and organising task reminders and deadlines
  • To manage email and correspondence where required on behalf of the AEDs
  • Liaising with staff, artists, clients and partners where required, on behalf of the AEDs and/or company
  • To provide admin support on core projects across Theatre Delicatessen
  • To book and arrange travel, transport and accommodation
  • To manage organisation database and filing systems

Financial administration

  • To maintain best practice with managing online banking and accounting
  • To support the Finance Manager in providing rigorous, accurate and efficient administration and maintenance of CurvingRoad’s (CRs) banking, accounting and bookkeeping systems  
  • To manage accounts receivable and payable, including processing invoices, expenses and bills
  • To create and process CRs sales invoices
  • To prepare and complete weekly reconciliation of all payments made into and out of the bank accounts on Xero
  • To assist in processing monthly payroll
  • To be vigilant to and report any discovery or suspicion of wrongdoing to the proper authorities
  • Attend finance department and company-wide meetings, sometimes assisting with financial reporting to managers and senior executives
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by the management team

Ideal Criteria

  • Experience of admin assistance at management level
  • An analytic and rigorous approach to facts and figures
  • Excellent IT Skills, particularly in Excel & MS Office Package  
  • World class organisation skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience of accounting software Xero or cloud accounting
  • Good general accounting experience; with sound debit and credit comprehension and reconciliations experience
  • Ability to self-manage and self-motivate
  • Excellent team, people and communication skills


Hours: 30 hours per week, normally 9am - 3pm. Occasional additional hours may be

necessary to fulfil the requirements of the post, including evenings and weekends, which can be taken in lieu.

Salary : £14,500 per year (£19,000 pro rata)

Holidays: Minimum 28 days pro-rata including bank holidays

Post-probation Theatre Deli has an unlimited holiday policy for non-shift based permanent staff

Contract type: 1 year   

Probation: 6 months

Notice period: 1 month during probation period, 3 months thereafter
